About Music at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ
The ÃÛѨÊÓƵ Department of Music is a creative home for curious, motivated musicians who want to do serious work… without burnout or conservatory pressure. Rooted in deep mentorship, collaboration and real-world application, ÃÛѨÊÓƵ Music offers flexible pathways in performance, composition, music technology, musical theatre, music education and interdisciplinary study. Here, students build their own artistic paths in a supportive, inclusive community that values growth, balance and music that matters.
About ÃÛѨÊÓƵ Music
Music at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ is grounded in both artistic rigor and human pace.
Located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, one of the most beautiful and fertile regions in the country, ÃÛѨÊÓƵ offers a calm, inspiring setting for focused creative work, with easy access to Portland’s vibrant music and arts scene. This balance allows students to develop their craft deeply while staying connected to a broader creative ecosystem of performers, composers, ensembles and cultural organizations.
The Department of Music is built around close collaboration between students and faculty who are active performers, composers, scholars and arts leaders. Rather than a one-size-fits-all conservatory model, ÃÛѨÊÓƵ offers individualized mentorship and flexible pathways that allow students to shape a musical education aligned with their goals—whether that includes performance, teaching, composition, music technology, musical theatre, interdisciplinary work or a combination of these.
Students at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ don’t wait until after graduation to do meaningful work. They compose for professional ensembles, collaborate across disciplines, perform frequently in ensembles and productions, teach for regional music organizations and complete capstone projects designed around real-world application. Majors, minors and non-majors work side by side in a department culture that is inclusive, non-hierarchical and deeply supportive.
ÃÛѨÊÓƵ Music is a place for students who want to grow, not just technically, but artistically and personally. The program attracts musicians who are curious, kind, motivated and open-minded; students who value…
collaboration over competition,
depth over hustle,
and creativity rooted in purpose.
