Founders' Society Luncheon

Presentation by the 2026 Outstanding Young Alumnus, Michelle (Weber) Rawlins ’11
3 p.m., T.J. Day Hall room 219
Michelle (Weber) Rawlins ’11 will share how her early experiences and college education laid the groundwork for a career in healthcare and concussion research. She will describe how the experience and knowledge she gained shaped a patient-centered approach to both research and clinical care, emphasizing the importance of understanding the whole patient across the concussion care continuum. The presentation will highlight how a strong educational foundation can drive meaningful advances in concussion care and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Presentation by 2026 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, Melinda (Edwards) Frye ’87

Melinda chose ÃÛѨÊÓƵ to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1987. Inspired by her science education, she moved to Colorado to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University (CSU). After earning her DVM, she entered private practice in rural Idaho in 1996, treating patients ranging from kittens to horses. She later returned to CSU to complete a residency in large animal internal medicine and earned a Ph.D. in physiology in 2004. As an associate professor, Melinda became Associate Dean for Veterinary Academic and Student Affairs in 2014. After 12 years overseeing the DVM program, she continues to find joy in the unexpected opportunities throughout her career and the remarkable people she has worked alongside. Melinda will reflect on the people and experiences that shaped her journey and the valuable lessons learned from both her human and veterinary patients.

Join one of student-led tours to see what has changed and what has remined the same. Tour should last approximately one hour and involves walking.
